When the delivery driver arrived with my new purchase I was initially surprised at their strength in carrying the box on their own. Once I'd had my picture with safely delivered purchase I realised just how much TVs have come on in terms of weight. The package was easily manageable for one person to carry.
Next it was on to the unboxing. I was planning to wall mount the TV, and having never done that took my time with the unboxing process. The instructions were quite small print, but easy enough to follow. So once the TV was out of its cocoon of polystyrene it was carefully laid face down on the rug.
In the end I decided against the wall mounting as I didn't have confidence in the fixings. Applying the base was easy enough, but it was a little awkward attaching it to the TV as you had to lift the bottom of it up to insert the stand and screws. Large TVs have come on a long way in terms of depth since I last made a significant TV purchase so with it being very thin at the top I was worried lifting the base may damage the top, but I needn't have worried.
With the stand attached along with the cable cover it was time to put the TV in place. For me that's on the fire surround above our wood burner. It was almost a perfect fit and only a little awkward inserting the plug. Once hooked up to a couple of HDMI cables we were ready for set up.
Set up on the TV is a guided process which you can choose to do on the TV or with App assistance. I opted for the former. I was taken through a number of screens which optimised the TV settings for my viewing. The integration with our set-top box was a breeze as was the Wifi. The TV did a few updates and then we configured some of the apps. The whole process took less than 10mins.
Initially I kept the protective cover on the screen as I wasn't 100% sure I would change my mind on the wall mounting so it was obviously a little blurry at first. However, I soon took that off and experienced the amazing clarity of the 4K picture. Being OLED means that the colours are incredibly vivid and I have never experienced such pleasure at seeing true black on a screen.
We ditched our home entertainment system a couple of years ago and I was concerned about the sound of the new TV ahead of purchase. I needn't have been concerned. The sound, which has an AI enhancement option is amazing and a soundbar is not required, unless you really want one. Overall I am incredibly happy with my purchase and hope it lasts as long as my last (13+ years)
